Reminder: RBA Card Payment Changes Start in One Month (1 October 2026)

1 September 2026

ONE MONTH TO GO
RBA Card Payment Rules Take Effect 1 October 2026

Hi {first_name},

Back in July we let you know about the Reserve Bank of Australia's changes to card payment surcharging. With one month left until they take effect, now's the time to make sure your pricing is ready if you have events on sale after 1 October.

The quick recap

From 1 October 2026, businesses can no longer apply a separate surcharge to designated Visa, Mastercard or eftpos card payments. Any card processing costs need to be built into your advertised ticket price instead of added at checkout. This is a nationwide change from the RBA, not something specific to 123 Tix or events, so it applies no matter which platform you use.

If your event is on sale for dates after 1 October 2026, check whether you:

Currently use the Pass On Fees option

Advertise ticket prices excluding fees

Need to update your pricing structure before tickets go on sale

Would like to look at Direct Stripe Payment Integration

What changes on the platform

From 1 October, the Pass On Fees option for Visa, Mastercard and eftpos will no longer be available within 123 Tix. If you're currently using it, review your pricing now so there's no last-minute scramble once tickets are already on sale.

While you're updating your pricing

It's also a good moment to check whether your ticket prices still reflect the real cost of running your event. Rather than just folding your old Pass On Booking Fee and Transaction Fees into the price (turning a $50.00 ticket into $51.75, for instance), consider rounding to a clean number like $52.00 or $55.00. It's easier for customers to read, and a fair chance to revisit pricing that may not have moved in years despite rising costs. It makes the marketed price transparent and compliant.

Thinking about your cash flow too?

Direct Stripe Payment Integration is live now. It connects your own Stripe account directly to 123 Tix, so ticket revenue lands in your account as sales happen, rather than waiting for post-event settlement. If you're already reviewing your payment setup for the RBA changes, it's worth looking at while you're in there.

We're here to help

With one month to go, if you'd like a hand reviewing your pricing, understanding how this affects your events, or setting up Direct Stripe Payment Integration, get in touch. We'd rather help you sort it now than field a rush of questions in the last week of September.
